Overview
To support the development of a pipeline of future leaders, the Guilford County Schools in partnership with Action Greensboro has supported a “grow your own” process for leadership development. One strategy in this process is the implementation of a masters of school administration cohort program. Since 2003, 94 candidates have participated in, graduated from, or are currently enrolled in five university masters of school administration (MSA) cohort programs. These programs have been implemented through two area universities, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro (UNCG) and North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T State). Of those ninety four candidates, nineteen are currently principals and twenty eight are currently assistant principals. Ten have retired or resigned.
