Licensed Position Information

All instructional vacancies require a current North Carolina teaching license or the eligibility to hold a North Carolina license in the specific area. Due to the size of our district and our volume of vacancies, we are now accepting applications on an ongoing basis for the following teaching areas:

    • Pre-Kindergarten
    • Kindergarten - 5
    • Science
    • Math
    • Foreign Language
    • Exceptional Children
    • Guidance Counselor
    • ESL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)

    Step 1 - Apply

Access the NC State Online Application System and fill out an online application. https://schooljobs.dpi.state.nc.us/

    Step 2 - Qualify

The Office of Employment will review and process your online application. If your application is in an area of need for our district based upon current vacancies, you will automatically be moved to Step 3: Screening. This can take up to 2 weeks. If it does not meet an area of need at present, your application will remain active for one year.

    Step 3 - Screening

If the Office of Employment determines that your application is in an area of need for our district based upon current vacancies, you will receive an email that includes a link to our online screener and a request for any documents needed to complete your application. These documents will usually include: college transcripts, copies of applicable test scores, a copy of your license if you are from out of state.

Step 4 - District Level Interview

Candidates whose online screeners meet the needs of our district may be invited to participate in a face-to-face district level screening interview. Should you be recommended to proceed to this step, the Office of Employment will contact you to schedule an interview. For out of state candidates, we offer a telephone interview.

Step 5 - School Level Interview

Once you have completed Steps 1-4, principals will review your application file and screeners to determine whether or not you are a possible match for a current vacancy. If invited to a school level interview, the individual building principal will contact you and will schedule an interview date and time.
