Mr. Randy Southard, on behalf of the community, has requested that the Northwest Guilford High School (NWGS) football stadium be named in honor of a distinguished individual who has made outstanding contributions to the Guilford County School system, as well as the community.
Pursuant to the procedure on the naming of schools (FDCA-P), a nomination form and accompanying support documents were provided by Mr. Southard for review and consideration.
The name proposed is as follows:
R.L. Billings Stadium
The nomination has been reviewed by Principal Angelo Kidd, as well as the president and members of the PTSA of NWGHS. All were in support of the recommended name.
RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends that the board study and support the proposed name R.L. Billings Stadium and following a period of public comment consider approval of the nomination or direct the administration to request the nominator to provide further information as may be required by the board in order to more fully consider the request and to make a decision.
