Change Order to Contract for Construction at Northern Guilford Middle School

New Atlantic Contracting, Inc. submitted a request for a change order to cover the cost of mass rock that was encountered on the site of the Northern Guilford Middle School. This mass rock has been blasted, excavated and buried on site.
The total of the requested change is as follows:
Northern Guilford Middle School - 31,126.63 cubic yards @ $107.10 per cubic yard = $120,662
RECOMMENDATION: In an effort to move through this process expeditiously and to pay the contractor in a timely manner for this work, the administration recommends board approval in the amount of $120,662 for the mass rock removal that has been encountered and submitted to date by New Atlantic Contracting, Inc. The funds for this change are currently in the budget under project contingency.
