Every day, Duane Lewis makes a difference. He has to. If he doesn’t, another student at The Middle College at N.C. A&T could succumb to the pressures that come along with being labeled “at-risk.”  Many middle college students were previously at risk of dropping out of school, but because of Duane, the students at The Middle College at NC A&T are on the right track.  Duane is more than a positive role model for his students – he is an advocate, a shoulder to lean on and a never-ending source of guidance.  Duane is frequently credited by students for their remaining in school and being successful.  Because of his remarkable ability to connect with students and set them on a positive path, Duane was selected as the district’s December Employee of the Month.

As Guilford County Schools’ Employee of the Month, Duane received a $50 gift card from Sam’s Club, who has partnered with GCS to execute the employee recognition program. His photo will hang at the district’s central offices and at Sam’s Club on Wendover Avenue.
