School Recognitions

Kernodle Middle named “School to Watch”
Kernodle is now one of eight North Carolina middle schools among 107 from across the nation to be named a "School to Watch." Kernodle is the first school from Guilford County to receive this honor from the North Carolina Middle School Association. The school received the distinction after exemplifying academic excellence where faculty members challenge students to use their minds through a variety of activities. Teachers and administrators have displayed a strong concern for the development and support of their students, and the entire school has strived for excellence.

Morehead Elementary is the “Real D.E.A.L.”
On February 1st, Governor Mike Easley announced that Morehead Elementary is one of the top 10 schools to win the Real Dedicated Educators, Administrators and Learners award, also known as the Real D.E.A.L. award. Morehead is committed to involving staff in decision making. The school also provides planning time and professional development opportunities that teachers need to build their knowledge and skills and to help their students succeed. For those reasons, Morehead received the award, which is based on a program that recognizes schools for student performance and teacher working conditions according to feedback from the 2006 Teacher Working Conditions Survey.
