Bids were received on May 15, 2007, for bread for the School Lunch Program for the 2007-08 school year. Attached is a tabulation of the two bids received. Since this bid is for food, three bids are not required. The “three-bid” rule only applies to the first opening of construction bids over $300,000.
Flowers Baking Company of Jamestown, LLC, Jamestown, NC, submitted the lowest responsible bid of $400,046.60 for bread for the School Lunch Program. This bid was submitted based on estimated quantities.
RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends approval of a contract with Flowers Baking Company of Jamestown, LLC for bread for the School Lunch Program during the 2007-08 school year at a total cost of $400,046.60.
