RE:

Update on New Light Student Suspension Program

We were able to serve 153 students in the New Light At-Risk Intergenerational Outreach Program, which began in February 2007.  Of the 153 that were served, 25 students had repeat suspensions.  The goal of the program was to reduce the number of repeat suspensions.

Attached is the annual report generated by staff members at New Light At-Risk Intergenerational Outreach Program.  The program received mixed reviews from principals regarding its effectiveness concerning students who attended the program.  While some feel the program was successful in helping students to improve their work habits, behavior and attendance, others indicated that they did not see any significant changes in students’ behavior.
