2008-09 GCS Principal of the Year and Finalists |

The district recognized five principals as finalists for the 2008-09 Guilford County Schools (GCS) Principal of the Year and named the winner at the Wachovia “Best in Class Awards” on Sept. 22. Dr. LaToy Kennedy, principal at Wiley Elementary, was named this year’s Principal of the Year. She won $1,000 and will represent principals across the district at various local and state events. Dr. Brian Clarida (Sumner Elementary), Dr. Benita Lawrence (Monticello-Brown Summit Elementary), Kenneth Wheat (Pruette SCALE School) and Rodney Wilds (Jackson Middle) were finalists.
