Consideration for Naming of the Guilford Primary Facility – The Dr. Doris J. Henderson Building

Pursuant to our procedure on the naming of facilities (FDCA-P), the District Relations Department has received input from members of the community about an appropriate name for the renaming of the Guilford Primary facility which houses the GCS Newcomers School. Members of the community have submitted one name for consideration: Dr. Doris J. Henderson.

Following a public comment period during which requests for nominations were solicited, no other nominations were received.

In keeping with the procedure, the supporting documents are attached for review along with a nomination form.

RECOMMENDATION:  The administration recommends that the board study the proposed name for the Guilford Primary facility, The Dr. Doris J. Henderson Building, and following a period of public comment consider approval of the nomination or direct the administration to request the District Relations Department to provide any further information as may be required by the board in order to more fully consider the request and make a decision.
