GCS Volunteer of the Month for February 2008

Janeen Price takes volunteerism seriously. In fact, she has missed only one day in her year and-a-half tenure. Her presence is felt throughout the school fielding questions, telephone calls and assisting wherever she is needed. “She is more like a front office employee than a volunteer,” said Principal Angelo Kidd. “She takes ownership of whatever she does at Northwest High, including painting numbers on more than 700 parking spaces in last summer's heat.”
In fact, it is her work with Park It, the school parking lot program, that has endeared her to the staff at Northwest. Thanks to Janine’s diligence in setting up the parking lot procedures and working closing with the assistant principal and school resource officer, the program is running smoothly. “Janine did all of the research for the Park It program, as well as following it through to the very end,” said Dena Lenard, office support who nominated Janine. “Without her involvement, the parking program would not have been completed.” Because of her constant support of the faculty and students at Northwest High, Janine is the February GCS Volunteer of the Month.
As the GCS Volunteer of the Month, Janine will receive a certificate of appreciation from the Board of Education and Superintendent Terry Grier. She will also receive a $25 gift card from American Express. Janine’s photo will hang on a plaque at her school during the month of February. Remember to watch for the Volunteer of the Month on GCSTV 2.
