School Health Advisory Council Update
|
|
At the May 22 meeting, Gwen Willis, executive director of student services, will present to the board an update on the school health advisory council.
The North Carolina State Board of Education passed a policy (HSP-S-000) that requires school districts across the state to establish and maintain School Health Advisory Councils representing the eight components of a Coordinated School Health Program. The eight components include: health education, physical education, health services, nutrition services, safe environment, mental and social health, staff wellness and parental/family involvement. A School Health Advisory Council facilitates communication and problem-solving about health related issues of children and youth.
This update will include information on four components:
- Overview and Accomplishments of the School Health Advisory Council for 2007-08
- Youth Risk Behavior Survey
- Coordinated School Health Program Assessment
- Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Education Awareness
