School Nutrition Services - Contract Extension for Food, Supplies, Storage and Delivery of USDA Commodities

On June 13, 2006 the Board of Education approved a contract to Institution Food House, Inc., (IFH) Hickory, NC, for food, supplies, storage and delivery of USDA commodities for the 2006-07 school year. The contract included an option to extend the contract for up to four additional years. On June 12, 2007, the Board approved an extension of the bid for the 2007-08 school year.
Based on our excellent experience with IFH, we are asking for approval to extend our contract with IFH for the 2008-09 school year. The estimated cost of the contract is $7,190,368.25.
RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends approval of the extension of a contract with Institution Food House, Inc. for food, supplies, storage and delivery of USDA commodities for the 2008-09 school year at an estimated cost of $7,190,368.25.
