Magnet and High School Options School-by-School Review and Needs Assessment
At the July 8 meeting, Tony Burks, director of magnet and choice schools, will present to the board a school-by-school review and needs assessment report of the existing magnet schools and programs. The review and report collectively explore the 25 elements of world class magnet schools noting areas of strength and areas for growth. Existing magnet schools and high school options were visited by small teams over a three-week period. Team members included Christine Amos, Dr. Joanne Brower, Peggy Churn, Dr. Paul Masem, Evan Brennan and Tony Burks.
The school-by-school review does not include quantitative student achievement data; these data will be provided to the board at a later date by Dr. Gongshu Zhang, chief accountability and research officer.
