During the 2007-08 school year, three schools within the district graduated 100 percent of students. Weaver Academy, Greensboro College Middle College and The Early College at Guilford are three of only eight schools statewide to accomplish a 100 percent graduation rate. Overall, the 2007-08 graduation rate for Guilford County Schools (GCS) was 79.5 percent, compared to the statewide rate of 70 percent. The State Board of Education recognized GCS, along with other districts across the state, at a luncheon as part of Graduation Awareness Week.

GCS also has four schools recognized by NCDPI for achieving top graduation rates by ninth grade cohort size. Each of these four schools is in the top two of their category.  They are:

• Weaver Academy, one of eight schools statewide to earn a perfect graduation rate, was a top school in the 0-99 cohort.

• Northwest High, with a 92.7 graduation rate, was the highest in the state for schools with 500 or more cohorts.

• Southeast High, with a 92.1 percent graduation rate, was the highest in the state for schools with 300-399 cohorts,

• Western High, with a 91.9 percent graduation rate, was the second highest in the state in the 300-399 category.
