Montessori Program Cost Projections
|
|
As a follow up to the December 18, 2008 Board of Education meeting, the attached report is provided in response to the Board’s inquiry about projected costs for sustaining Montessori education in the district. Specifically, this report provides projected costs of the potential financial allocations needed to:
- increase the number of PreK and K seats at the three Montessori Schools (Erwin, Triangle Lake and Washington);
- add new students and fill vacant seats through second grade;
- fund the professional development needs of staff in implementing Montessori education; and,
- pursue accreditation for Guilford County Schools to serve as a training site.
Also included are More at Four (MAF) funding projections based on 2008-09 actual funding. Staff will provide a cost comparison of Montessori education to traditional school and other magnet programs in GCS in the near future.
