Transition to Teaching Grant Application

The attached is an executive summary for a U.S. Department of Education Transition to Teaching grant.  This summary has been reviewed by all cabinet members and the district grants coordinator as required by district procedure Grants Funding DD-P.
The purpose of this grant is to provide resources for teacher preparation.  It is a five year grant, averaging $450,000 per year for a total funding amount of $2.2 million.  The grant will be placed on the consent agenda for the January 13, 2009 board meeting.  We are available to address any concerns that you may have regarding the grant.

The Transition to Teaching grant application is due to the US Department of Education on January 15, 2009.

RECOMMENDATION:  The administration recommends that the board approve the submission of the Transition to Teaching grant application to the U.S. Department of Education.
