Request for Approval: Submission of the Toyota Family Literacy Grant

The National Center for Family Literacy (NCFL), through funding from Toyota, is expanding the Toyota Family Literacy Program (TFLP) into five additional cities in the fall of 2009.  Guilford County Schools submitted a Capability Survey in March 2009 and was granted permission on April 10, 2009, to submit a request for proposal.  The grant application in the amount of $600,000 divided over three years must be received by NCFL by the close of the day on May 11, 2009.

RECOMMENDATION:  The administration recommends that the board approves the writing and submission of the Toyota Family Literacy Grant.
