Food Alliance Contract for the 2009-10 School Year

In August, 2008, Guilford County Schools, along with 76 other school districts, joined a purchasing alliance for the purpose of bidding food and supplies to be used in Child Nutrition programs.  A universal bid document was developed for all members of the alliance including conditions specific to each District in the alliance.  Bid documents were forwarded to all interested vendors.  Seventy-seven bids were received on May 18, 2009. 

An audit team comprised of fifteen Child Nutrition Directors who are members of the alliance reviewed and approved the bids for compliance with bid laws and regulations.

Based on the approved audit results from the NC Child Nutrition Alliance Audit Committee, US Foodservice, Inc., Fort Mill, SC, submitted a responsible/responsive bid for Guilford County.  Their bid, based on estimated quantities, is as follows:

RECOMMENDATION:  Staff recommends awarding a contract to US Foodservice, Inc. for food and supplies for the 2009-10 school year.
