The board recognized Teresa Southard, a SIMS operator at Kernodle Middle, as the district's February Employee of the Month.

Staff Reports
Approval of Lease Price for Eastern Guilford High Modular Pod Units
The board approved a contract with Modular Technologies, Inc., in the amount of $2,248,365 for setup, lease term of 18 months and removal of the Temporary Modular Village at the Eastern High School site.
The board also approved for the sum of $103,470 be paid to Modular Technologies for each month the lease exceeds the original 18 month term, as presented by Kevin Lear, chief operations officer.
Contracts for Renovations at Smith Academy
The board approved contracts to Brooks General Contractors of Greensboro, NC for general construction in the amount of $1,695,343; Bar Construction Company of Greensboro, NC for floor covering construction in the amount of $17,418; S&H Construction of Greensboro, NC for painting construction in the amount of $54,300; CoMor of Greensboro, NC for ceiling construction in the amount of $60,827.89; H.M. Kern Corporation of Greensboro, NC for doors, frames and hardware in the amount of $114,000 and to CoMor for technology construction in the amount of $122,745.05, with contracts totaling $2,064,633.94, as presented by Kevin Lear, chief operations officer.
Use of Schools - Allen Jay Middle and Guilford Primary
The board approved for staff to use Allen Jay Middle to house students from Union Hill Elementary until construction at Union Hill is complete, as presented by Superintendent Grier.
The board tabled discussion regarding the use of the current Guilford Primary site as a " Newcomer School " for English Second Language Learners in grades five through 12 during their first year in the district, as presented by Superintendent Grier.
Montessori Update
Chief of Staff Dr. Eric Becoats presented to the board an update on the two Montessori schools. Information discussed included staffing implications of phasing in grades six through eight at both Triangle Lake and Erwin Montessori schools.
Bond Referendum Update
Director of Facilities Joe Hill presented to the board an update on the 2007 Bond Referendum.
Autistic Program Update
Dr. Eric Becoats, chief of staff, presented to the board an update on the staff's recommendation for an Autistic program to be effective August 2007.
School Resource Officers (SROs) Alternatives
Superintendent Grier presented to the board an update on the SRO alternatives for middle and high schools. The board requested that staff schedule an administrative briefing to discuss the Disproportionate Minority Contact (DMC) Initiative.
