SpringBoard for Middle Schools
The board voted to approve and enter into an agreement with The College Board for the period of June 30, 2008 to June 30, 2009, at a cost of $175,175 for SpringBoard subscription, services and materials.
Update on the Opening of Schools
Dr. Eric Becoats, co-interim superintendent, presented to the board an update on the opening of schools.
Proposed ABC Store Location Near SCALE School, 116 Pisgah Church Road
Board Attorney Jill Wilson, discussed with the board information regarding the proposed ABC store location on Pisgah Church Road near the SCALE school site.
AYP ( Adequate Yearly Progress) Review Update
Dr. Eric Becoats, co-interim superintendent and Dr. Gongshu Zhang, chief accountability and research officer, presented to the board an update regarding the current status of the district’s AYP results.

Second Reading – Policy JHB, Gang Education and Prevention
The board approved Policy JHB, Gang Prevention & Education to receive further review and input.
Guilford County Board of Education meetings are broadcast live on GCSTV 2 (cable channel 2) and re-air the day after the meeting at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. and the Saturday following the meeting at 1 p.m.
