Consent Agenda

The board approved the personnel reports on the consent agenda, which included contract renewals for 135 interim licensed employees and two classified employees that worked in the district during the 2008-09 school year.

Last month, 578 interim employees were notified that Guilford County Schools (GCS) had delayed bringing their contracts to the board for renewal due to the uncertainty of the budget situation.

Interim employees are those individuals who serve on a temporary contract, which is revisited annually. They are provided a contract that stipulates a beginning and ending of their employment status (June 16 or the last day of school). Interim employees include those who have been employed for less than 120 days; are on emergency, provisional or lateral entry licenses; are retirees; are not in fulltime positions; or are Visiting International Faculty (VIF) teachers.
