Gone are the days of the shade tree mechanic. Automobiles today are run by on - board computers which require clean surroundings and technicians with the ability to use computer driven diagnostic equipment.

Students must have strong academic skills and the ability to diagnose and repair a problem in a short amount of time. If your interest lies in the area of engine theory, brake repair, and electrical systems you should elect to take courses in the automotive sequence.  

The area of collision repair technology would be the route to take if you are interested in refinishing, painting, or frame repair and analysis.

A variety of careers are available in the automotive industry.  If you are interested in sales, finance, marketing, or automotive and collision repair there is an opportunity in this field for you. Careers in this industry are varied and range from the technician to the engineer.
