Fill the Bus

Fill the Bus logoFill the Bus is a grassroots campaign that mobilizes businesses and community groups to donate and collect classroom supplies for teachers. The program was created by the Volunteer Center in 1999 in response to the needs of our public school teachers. On average, teachers surveyed expected to spend a total of $826 on school supplies in the 2005-2006 school year and an additional $926 on instructional materials. ( The National School Supply and Equipment Association (NSSEA) , June 2006.)To date the Fill the Bus campaign has raised more than $600,000.00 worth of classroom supplies for Guilford County Schools teachers.

Companies can make a difference for these teachers and students! A business or community group can “adopt” a school to give support through educational supplies and year round volunteer opportunities. The relationship grows and benefits both the school and company in morale, team building and corporate citizenship.

We invite you and your company to join Fill the Bus and make a difference for our schools and your organization. Join us in our collaboration with Greater Greensboro and United Way of Greater High Point, Communities In School, the Guilford County Council of PTAs and Guilford Education Alliance.
