GCS and American Express to Honor Volunteer of the Month

Know a great GCS volunteer? Nominate them for Volunteer of the Month!

The success of Guilford County Schools is due much in part to its volunteers. To recognize those who selflessly donate their own time to the district's students, GCS has created the Volunteer of the Month program.

"We are grateful for our many volunteers who make such a difference each day with assisting our teachers, students and parents in our schools,” said Terry B.  Grier, superintendent of Guilford County Schools. “We’re proud to partner with American  Express in offering this program, which honors the spirit of volunteerism.”

"At American Express, we understand the value that volunteers provide to our schools. This is why we are proud  to sponsor the Guilford County Schools Volunteer of the Month Program and the difference these volunteers are making in the lives of the young members of our community," said Tim Goetz, manager community affairs for American Express Service Center.

Persons who volunteer at GCS full- or part-time may be nominated. All nominations must be received by the 10th day of each month and are good for 30 days.

Those selected as the district's Volunteer of the Month (VOM) will receive a certificate of recognition from the Guilford County Board of Education and a $25 gift card from American Express.  Additionally, the VOM will have his/her picture on display at the district’s three main offices during the month that they were selected.
