SES, free tutoring after school, is a crucial component of the No Child Left Behind Act, giving low-income families the option to obtain free tutoring and other academic enrichment services for their children. Only those who receive free or reduced price lunch and attend eligible Title I schools are eligible for SES tutoring.
The 22 schools offering SES are:
Alderman Elementary
Allen Jay Elementary
Archer Elementary
Bessemer Elementary
Fairview Elementary
Ferndale Middle
Foust Elementary
Gillespie Park Elementary
Hairston Middle
Hampton Elementary
Hunter Elementary
Jackson Middle
Kirkman Park Elementary
Montlieu Elementary
Northwood Elementary
Oak Hill Elementary
Oak View Elementary
Parkview Elementary
Peck Elementary

Union Hill Elementary
Wiley Elementary
SES tutoring helps ensure that students who attend Title I schools in improvement have the opportunity
to increase their academic achievement in reading and math by getting extra tutoring at no cost to the
parent/guardian.
Parents choose the tutor they feel will best meet the needs of their child from 14 tutoring
companies, called Providers, who have been approved by the NC Department of Public
Instruction (DPI). Guilford County pays the cost of the tutoring directly to the Provider.
Parents can meet the providers, ask questions, and submit applications at each school’s SES
Information session, called a Provider Fair. Click here for the Provider Fair schedule.
Applications will be available at each participating school after the Provider Fair.
Tutoring will begin in November. Parents will receive information in November from their child’s school confirming placement in the program and the dates and times for SES tutoring.
Questions should be directed to your child’s school or the Title I office at 370-2368.
For more information about SES tutoring, contact the Title I Office by email or phone, 370-2368.
