All students entering the ninth grade for the first time will be a part of the freshmen academy.
2) QWhat about students who are repeating the ninth grade?
A
Students that have not been promoted to the tenth grade will have classes outside of the academy. The classes will focus on the needs of students repeating the ninth grade.
3) QWill freshmen be allowed to take elective courses?
A
Yes, freshmen are assigned to elective courses as their scheduled permits.
4) QWill freshmen have classes with the upperclassmen students?
A
Yes, depending on the course. Freshmen level core courses will have only freshmen students.
5) QHow do I schedule a conference with my child’s teachers?

Contact the freshmen counselor, Mr. Phelps, for assistance scheduling a conference with teachers.
6) QCan freshmen participate in sports and extracurricular activities?

Yes, students are encouraged to become involved in athletics and other activities.
7) QHow many credits must students have at the end of the school year to be promoted to the tenth grade?
A
Students must obtain six credits to be promoted from ninth to tenth grade. Success in all courses, however, is strongly encouraged
8) QWhat are the “Big 3” exams?
A
The “Big 3” are the end-of-course examinations that students are required to pass, with a level III or IV before receiving a high school diploma. The courses are English I, Algebra I  and Biology.
