Notes for Senior Class Meeting

Ø  Upcoming Events:

· April 13 – Parent Workshop – Resume’ Writing 9 am – 11am (graduation ticket opportunity)

· May 1 last day to pay balance

· May 3 – Cap and Gown delivery

· May 4 – Prom Empire Ball Room

· May 13 – Senior Parent Meeting 6 PM(Graduation ticket opportunity)

· May 16 – Parent Workshop – Career Fair and Social Services Resources  9am -11am (last graduation ticket opportunity)

· May 20-24 – Senior Week

May 22 – Sr. Banquet ticket $35 6pm Downtown Marriott

May 23 – Sr. Breakfast ($8) 8 am; Capping rehearsal 9:30 am -12 pm; Sr. Cookout ($20) 12:20 pm – 4 pm Camp Weaver

May 24 Capping Ceremony 9 am Main Gym

· June 7 – Graduation Rehearsal 7:15 AM Special Events Center

· June 9 – Graduation 3:30 PM (Student report at (2:00PM)

 

Ø  Senior Packages: There are no more packages.  You will now have to pay for individual items.  Prices are as follows:  Banquet $ 35; Cookout $20; Breakfast $8; Yearbook $65 

 

Ø  Cap and gowns:Students should order cap and gown units through Herff Jones at 336-228-7770.  The current cost of the cap and gowns are $125.  Cap and gowns will be delivered on May 3.  All balances must be paid in full in order to receive your cap and gown.

 

ØGraduation Announcements and other graduation paraphernalia: These items are available and can be ordered directly through Herff Jones.  Your school packages do not include announcements.  Just remember when you are ordering, if you have purchased a senior package which includes a cap and gown unit, do not reorder this item when purchasing announcements.  Also, be aware that if your Herff Jones order (including class ring) is not paid in full, they will not release your cap and gown even if your school package is paid for.  So be cautious when ordering extra items.  Please contact Herff Jones for this items @ 336-228-7770 or www.jhconnection.com/ncgrad

Payment center is open 24/7 so, parents and students can pay on their balance prior to delivery day if they wish to do so.

Ø  Prom: May 4, 2013Location: Empire Ballroom Downtown Greensboro. Time: 8 pm -12 am Ms. Brooks, Ms. Ingram and Ms. Henry are the prom coordinators.  At this time, you can no longer purchase your additional prom ticket with Ms. Paylor.  Please contact one of the prom coordinators for additional prom tickets. Cost of tickets: $50 Single / $90 couple/ $55 VIP single only/ $15 for Sr. package holders to upgrade to VIP

 

Ø  Senior Banquet Parent Tickets:  Parents please reserve your tickets for the banquet by May 3, 2013.  The cost is $35 a ticket.  Students who have gold, blue, fun and fun plus packages already have one (1) ticket included.  Attached is the reservation form that needs to be turned in with your cash or money order payment.  This form can also be accessed from the Senior Class webpage.  Tickets will not be available at the door.  Form can be downloaded from website.

 

 

ØAttire for Capping Ceremony (FYI)

Ladies: White dress, neutral stocking and black shoes

Gentlemen: Black pants, white collared dress shirt, dark dress shoes, dark tie

 

Ø  Submitting Awards letters for Capping BookAll scholarships and financial awards need to be submitted to Mrs. Staton by May 3, 2013 in order for them to be printed in the Capping Book.  Any submitted after this date will not be listed in the program book BUT will be added to the schools total.

 

Ø  Financial Obligations: Please take care of all textbook/media financial obligations and your senior package balance by May 1, 2013.  In order to receive your prom tickets and cap and gown, senior package balance needs to be paid by May 1, 2013. For graduation tickets, obligations need to be cleared by May 24, 2013.  Financial obligations for text/media fees will be given out every quarter with the report cards.  The next set of obligations will be distributed at report card pickup scheduled for April 16, 2013.  Obligations can go back as far as 9th grade and come from other schools (Weaver).  All obligations have to be satisfied before graduation.

 

 

Ø  Service-Learning Hours need to be submitted by April 16Requirements for Service Learning Recognition is as follows:

 Graduates of the following years are required to complete the following hours of service to receive the award

Cap and gown pictures are back.  Please come and pick up pictures and key chain pictures on Friday, April 12 in the guidance center during lunches only.

Please do not come to my office before then If you would like to order pictures call Lifetouch’s order hotline at 1-866-896-7174. They will be able to place an order for them as long as you took a picture.

Ø  Opportunity of Extra graduation tickets: Students will receive one (1) extra graduation ticket for attending senior class meetings held on March 11 and May 13.  This is an opportunity to get three (2) additional tickets.  Students will also have the opportunity to acquire more tickets by attending the March 9, April 13 and May 18 Parent workshops.  You can also volunteer to be a test proctor.

 

Ø  Senior Parent Booster Club:The DHS Senior Parent Boosters provides support and assistance to the Senior Class of James Benson Dudley High School for the purpose of promoting the senior activities and programs offered by James Benson Dudley High School. To fulfill such purpose, the Booster Club shall seek to increase both the involvement of the senior parents and faculty. The Booster Club shall endeavor to recruit senior parents to support senior events and perform other duties as requested and shall sponsor fund raising activities to benefit the senior programs.
