Dress Code and Appropriate Dress Guidelines

Any item that is worn to school must not undermine the integrity of the dress code (Rule 6), serve as a disruption to the educational process, or be inappropriate/vulgar/offensive to others.

GUIDELINES:

Shirts (short or long sleeve) of any color or pattern must be worn at all times.

No sleeveless, tank/halter tops, backless tops, spaghetti straps, strapless or half strapless tops or dresses.

Students are not allowed to show cleavage or midriffs (no low cut fronts or backs).

No see through material (undergarments should not be exposed).

No undershirts or other undergarments may be worn as shirts, pants, or shorts.

Use the "finger-tip" rule for length of dress, skirt, or shorts by placing your arms down at your side. Your hem must at least meet the tip of your middle finger. The hem may not be any shorter than the tip of your middle finger.

Pants must be at the waist and BELTS are required (no sagging, no exposure of undergarments).

Jeans may be worn (No rips or holes where skin can be seen).

Pants must have back pockets unless dress slacks (no tights, leggings, jeggings, Yoga pants, pajamas, or sweat pants/sweat suits).

No Camo gear. Tops or bottoms.

No athletic or basketball shorts.

SHOES (Male and Female):

Toes must be enclosed and covered.

No bedroom slippers, shower shoes, flip flops, or open-toed sandals.

Shoes must be worn at all times.

HEAD WEAR (Male and Female):

No head wear of any kind is to be worn in the building before, during, or after school. This includes, but is not limited to, hats, hoods, nets, wave caps, sweatbands, bandannas, sunglasses, goggles, headsets, or combs in the hair.

 STUDENTS WHO VIOLATE THE DRESS CODE WILL BE PROVIDED APPROPRIATE DRESS WHEN AVAILABLE OR WILL NEED TO CALL A PARENT TO BRING CLOTHING.

 STUDENTS WHO HAVE REPEAT OFFENSES WILL FACE DISCIPLINARY ACTION BASED ON RULE 6 IN THE GCS STUDENT HANDBOOK AS WELL AS THE NEGHS STUDENT HANBOOK.

Note: School Administrators reserve the right to prohibit or ban any clothing or accessories.
