This year your child will be using an F.R.O.G. Binder.  F.R.O.G. stands for First grader Responsible, Organized, and Growing.  The purpose of the binder is to help your child stay organized as they grow and learn responsibility.  Your child needs to bring the binder to school every day. Below you will find a brief description of each section of the binder. 

 

Red folder: This folder is for school papers. Take these out daily.

One side is for papers to leave at home and the other side is for papers that need to be return to school.

 

Zippered pouch:  This pouch is for lunch money, field trip money, scholastic money, permission forms and office notes such as Dr. Appointments, early dismissal, etc. 

 

Behavior Log: The behavior log will be filled out each day. It will have a smiling face or a sad face in the color level your child ended the day on.

 

Communication log:  This section provides a space for parent and teacher to communicate.  Please initial any notes I write in the log to indicate you’ve read them.

 

Homework folder (yellow): (inside front cover pocket):  Your child will place their homework in this pocket each day.  Place completed homework back in the homework pocket.  I will collect homework the next day.

 

Month Activity Sheet: Every month your child will have a monthly activity sheet. They will need to complete 4 of these activities monthly.

 

Reading log: Your child should record each book they read at home in the book log. Behind this will be a zip lock bag with a book in it.
You are welcome to read other books also.

 

Spelling sheet: On the front you will find your child list of words on the back lists activities to use when doing word building with your child. Behind this you will find a bag will popcorn words for the week on index cards to help your child study

 

Class rules: Here you will find a list of the class rules please go over these rules as needed with your child.

Frog Binder Rules

 

 

Take care of your Frogs book it will be used all year!

 

Clean out the “Leave home red folder” every evening.

 

Take your Frogs Binder home everyday and bring it back each morning

 

 

Frog Don’ts:

 

Don’t make any marks or drawing in or on your frog binder

 

Don’t leave your frog binder at home, in the car or bus, or at extended day

 

Don’t let anyone borrow your Frog binder or tear pages out

 

Don’t put any papers in your Frog binder that do not belong
