OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST
EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN SERVICES
The school based occupational therapist leads the process in development, implementation and coordination of the occupational therapy program for their assigned schools. Their work involves screening, evaluations, educational program and transition planning, therapeutic intervention, and exit planning for their students identified with or suspected of having disabilities. The Occupational therapist is responsible for developing goals and objectives as a member of the IEP team. The therapist is also responsible for documentation of services including logging which supports Fee for Service/Medicaid Billing.

The therapists report to the Coordinator of Related Services.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE

Hold a four- year degree in occupational therapy from an accredited occupational therapy professional program recognized by NCBOT and have completed all fieldwork requirements. Two years of experience as an occupational therapist, preferably in a school system or pediatric practice setting or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Current license by the North Carolina Board of Occupational Therapy required.

PROGRAM ADMINISTRATOR III – ENERGY / HVAC MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT
Under occasional supervision, ensures that all utilities including electricity, natural gas, and water, are properly and efficiently utilized by facilities within the school system. This position is responsible for ensuring that the District’s HVAC equipment is operating at peak efficient and economical levels. This position will be responsible for the District’s HVAC control and energy tracking computer system in order to accomplish this objective. Works closely with HVAC Department and external vendors to track energy usage and environmental controls and provides strong leadership. Manages the utility budget, develops and negotiates contracts and energy conservation initiatives. In conjunction with the Health and Safety Program Administrator, monitors and maintains proper air quality levels within all facilities; assist with determining air quality and health risk impacts of emissions caused by energy use and produces documentation of these activities to support compliance with Federal, State, and Local Environmental agencies. Acts upon utility regulatory issues. Reports to the Director of Maintenance.

Minimum Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, engineering technology, business or related field with emphasis on facilities management. Professional designation of Certified Energy Manager (CEM), preferred with two years experience in energy management, mechanical systems design, construction and/or maintenance, or a closely related field or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

 

 

Special Requirement: Knowledge of energy management program development. Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and lighting systems. Ability to manage budget and personnel. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

PRINCIPAL (Public-Separate School)
Hairston/Falkener Site (Effective 07/01/2013)
Guilford County Schools is seeking a dynamic administrator to serve as principal of the Hairston/Falkener Special Education Program. This program will serve students in Kindergarten through eighth grades. The incumbent must have in-depth knowledge of I.D.E.A., F.A.P.E, L.R.E., the I.E.P. process as well as other special education, Federal, and State laws, policies, regulations and procedures. This position will work closely with administrators at Hairston Middle School and Falkener Elementary School to ensure students are provided with appropriate resources and support systems to achieve success in their educational programming. Applicants should have extensive knowledge and/or experience in identifying and garnering community resources and support for students with severe disabilities. The principal of this site must work closely and collaboratively with families, caregivers, other district administrators and community members to provide optimal services to students. Thorough knowledge of research-based curriculum, assistive technologies, software designed for students with special needs is needed to promote an optimal learning environment.  In addition, the principal of this site will hold the primary responsibility of designing professional development for staff, creating and maintaining the budget and working with school community members to develop and implement the School Improvement Plan.

 The Hairston/Falkener site is a new program that will provide the educational needs for students currently matriculating through the McIver Education Center. Students from McIver will be assigned to either the Hairston/Falkener site or the Ragsdale High School site based upon age/grade level.

Minimum Training and Experience

Master’s degree in Education Administration; teaching licensure in Special Education; 3-5 years of experience as an Exceptional Children’s teacher; in depth knowledge of special education law, IDEA, FAPE, LRE, federal, state, local policies and procedures related to special education; knowledge and working understanding of the grief process, death and dying; knowledge and working understanding of government (local, state, federal) support systems for children with disabilities.
