Three Guilford County Schools students are first, second and third place winners of a national poster contest sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French. All of the students attend Bluford Elementary. Kindergartner Perri Carlisle-Page came in first place in the contest. First-grader Olivia Jackson and kindergartner Nina Monsanto received second and third place respectively. The students created 12-in. by 16-in. posters representing this year’s theme, “Discover the Wonders of the French Speaking World.” Teacher Charlene Moyer submitted their posters to the state chapter of the American Association of Teachers of French and then the state selected the three posters to represent North Carolina in the K-1 category of the national contest. The national association holds the poster contest each year for students in kindergarten through eighth grade. The posters will be framed and placed in the main hall at Bluford next to posters that have won in the past. At Bluford, all students take French classes. | | |
