The Guilford County Schools (GCS) Strategic Plan, Achieving Educational Excellence, serves as the district’s road map for achieving educational excellence.

“We believe that strength of character, combined with the keen analytical skills of a finely tuned mind, can overcome any obstacles and create a limitless future,” said Superintendent Maurice “Mo” Green. “Like Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, we believe ‘Intelligence plus character… is the goal of true education.’ That’s why character development of our students is a critical component of this plan.”

GCS launched Strategic Plan 2012, the first of its kind for the district, in January 2009. Since that time, GCS has put many new initiatives into place, including Summer Arts Institute, Montlieu Academy of Technology, The STEM Early College at N.C. A&T, The Middle College at UNCG, Guilford Parent Academy, Character Development and Service Learning, One Million Books (now Three Million Books) and Respectful and Responsive Service.

In January 0213, the district launched the next phase, Strategic Plan 2016, which will conclude in the fall of 2016.
