Dr. Anitra Walker

Dr. Anitra Walker is a native of Norfolk, Virginia and has one son, Tony Walker, Jr. She received her undergraduate degree in education from Norfolk State University, her master’s from Old Dominion University and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Walker spent 20 years has an educator in Norfolk Public Schools where she was a Career and Technology Education teacher for nine years, a Human Resources Coordinator for three years, and a school administrator for eight years.

Since her move to Guilford County in 2006, Dr. Walker has been principal at Northeast High. Under her guidance, the school’s graduation rate, overall End-of-Course performance composite score, attendance rate and SAT participation rate increased while the teacher turnover rate decreased. Over the last three years, Northeast High has been named one of the 16 most improved schools in Guilford County for two consecutive years; received the Hubert B. Humphrey, Jr. Award as the most improved high school in GCS; and Northeast has been named a 2010 Signature School by the Piedmont Triad Education Consortium. Dr. Walker was also a GCS Principal of the Year Finalist (2010).


Linda Helle

Linda Helle has served Guilford County Schools since 1991 in many different capacities including school treasurer, Student Information Management Systems (SIMS) manager, front office reception and registrar before moving to administrative office support in the athletic office and division of academic improvement. Named GCS Employee of the Month for July 2006, Helle was recognized for her diligent and voluntary efforts to secure funding for Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) in every school.


Priscilla Toon

Priscilla Toon, a native of Whiteville, NC has served Guilford County Schools since 1992. Ms. Toon served Grimsley High School in the media center and attendance office, and Page High School as a part-time attendance secretary. Her devotion to GCS also spilled over into athletics, where she volunteered as Grimsley's women's Varsity Basketball assistant coach. She has also served for 15 years as a summer staff member of the North Carolina High School Athletics Association. Toon believes she is truly blessed to be part of such a wonderful district where hard work pays off, both in and out of the classroom.


Stephanie Rakes

Stephanie Rakes has served the students, families and teachers of Guilford County Schools for over 13 years. She taught English at Ragsdale High School and served as their first Curriculum Facilitator, assisting teachers in instructional best practices, data analysis and professional development. She also worked as a district-level Academic Coach supporting the International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs within GCS. In 2011 she participated in the Piedmont Triad Leadership Academy, an innovative, intensive, and highly selective leadership program for aspiring future leaders of high needs schools. Rakes is enthuastic to continue serving the families, teachers, administrators and communities in the Central Region.
