A major initiative in the GCS Strategic Plan 2012: Achieving Educational Excellence, Guilford Parent Academy is focused on the following goals:
- Increasing awareness among parents regarding ways they can support their children’s learning at home, school and in the community as measured by an annual survey.
- Reducing barriers to parent/family involvement in GCS, and increasing teachers’ sense of connectedness with GCS parents/families.
- Increasing parental involvement in GCS.
- Increasing the number of business and community partnerships, volunteers and volunteer hours, financial donations and in-kind support focused on parent/family involvement in K-12 education.
The ultimate goal of Guilford Parent Academy is to help connect parents and family members with the training, information and support needed to help them become full partners in their children’s education.
