Guilford County Schools has designated the entire month of May as Thank a Teacher month, and the Board of Education signed a proclamation at its April 26, 2012 board meeting.

For the second consecutive year, we are delighted that Action Greensboro, Guilford Education Alliance and Businesses for Excellence in Education are joining GCS in recognizing the hard work of our educators and all employees.

Help us give thanks to all of our employees – bus drivers, school counselors, social workers, school support staff, principals, cafeteria assistants, custodians and more – who work together to make GCS a success.

A thank you can be big or small.

Some ways to say thank you:

  • Hang up a "Thank a Teacher" poster and tell the community who you're thanking during the month of May (posters can be arranged to be picked up or dropped off)
  • Put a "Thank You GCS Teachers (or Employees) on your marquee or electronic sign at your business for the month of May
  • Drop by a nearby school with snacks
  • Donate supplies to a nearby school or to the Teacher Supply Warehouse
  • Volunteer your time to help spring clean and/or plant flowers at a nearby school

If you have questions or ideas, or would like to have Thank A Teacher posters or postcards, please contact Jennifer Landes, program administrator for GCS, at 370-8353 or landesj@gcsnc.com.
