Ashton Miller was diagnosed with Embryonal Rhabdomyosarcoma(ERMS), a rare form of childhood cancer in July 2007 at the age of 18 years old. A 2006 grad of WGHS, Ashton's dream was to open her own art gallery and live in Paris. She battled cancer for a little over two and a half years until losing the fight in March of 2010. Ashton was a senior at The University of North Carolina- Chapel Hill, majoring in art and art history. Here, she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority.

The purpose of The Ashton Fund is to raise money for the arts, contribute to the WGHS HUGE fund(Help us get to Europe), raise money for young adults with cancer and to help deserving students, both at WGHS and Chapel Hill pursue the field of art/art history by providing them the chance to travel to Europe.

If you would like to make a donation, you can make checks out to WGHS Boosters attn: The Ashton Fund. The school's address is 409 Friendway Rd. Greensboro, N.C. 27410. All donations are tax-deductable.
