Energy WISE

Tracking Our Success:

GCS has contracted with School Dude (Utility Direct) for web-based utility tracking. The Energy WISE project will be evaluated on energy savings. A monthly report will quantify how much each school has improved year over year for that month. This works in tandem with our WISE Guy Challenge, which recognizes schools that have the greatest energy reduction for the previous month based on last year’s energy consumption. The challenge has three categories: High Schools, Middle Schools and Elementary Schools.

The non-financial goals of the Energy WISE program are equally important. In order to assess the progress of energy teams in meeting those goals, we will be in constant communication with teams at all schools to help them take their programs to the next level. Documentation of energy and sustainability initiatives will be posted on a website forum in order to facilitate district-level guidance and school-to-school sharing.

At the end of the program, the participating schools are required, in order to earn a cash award, to submit completed Energy WISE report forms.  These completed projects are then reviewed and ranked for higher level awards.  To us, the amount of effort and work that goes into the projects is an indication of how well our schools are performing.

Energy teams will also have the opportunity to apply for a Youth Award through the NEED project. This will allow our teams to be assessed by an independent organization and to have their achievements recognized at the state and national levels.
