RE:	Consideration for Naming of the Dudley High Athletic Facilities

Pursuant to our procedure on the naming of school facilities (FDCA-P), the

Department of District Relations has received input from our citizens regarding

the naming of Dudley High’s athletic facilities, including the football field, the

track and the field house. These facilities are currently under construction, and

are scheduled to be completed this August.

The following names have been submitted by the Dudley High School

Educational and Sports Hall of Fame – Hall of Distinction:

· Jonathan A. McKee, Sr. Field

· William N. Boyers Track

· William J. Furcron Field House

The football stadium is already named – J.A. Tarpley Stadium.

In keeping with the procedure, the nomination will undergo a public hearing at

the June 28 board meeting. If approved, the materials presented to the

Department of District Relations will be open for public comment for 30 days,

beginning June 29.

RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends the board study the

proposed name and open a 30-day period of public comment in order to seek comments

and provide time for other nominations to be submitted.
