GCS hosts an annual State of Our Schools address to update the community on the progress of goals and initiatives from the district's strategic plan. The event traditionally serves as the launching point for the district's next major initiatives. GCS launched Strategic Plan 2012, the first of its kind for the district, in January 2009. Since that time, GCS has introduced many new initiatives during State of Our Schools, including Guilford Parent Academy, Character Development and Service Learning and One Million Books (now Three Million Books). On January 31, 2013, GCS wrapped-up the Strategic Plan 2012 and launched the Strategic Plan 2016, which is named "Achieving Educational Excellence: Personalizing Learning." |
