Guilford Association of School Librarians Media Coordinator of the Year
| Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 |
Congratulations to Nancy Cravey of Cone Elementary, Guilford Association of School Librarians (GASL)’s 2009 Media Coordinator of the Year. This award is given to the Media Coordinator who best exemplifies the key roles of the school librarian: working collaboratively with teachers to teach students; selecting, organizing and maintaining library collection; and leading in the use of technology and Internet resources.
Nancy says it best in her own words.
“In my nine years as a school librarian I have come to believe that building relationships with students, staff and parents is the most effective way to make sure that the members of my school community “are effective users of ideas and information,” which is the mission of the school library media center. Without the willingness of my principal and colleagues to be flexible and innovative, the Cone Library would simply be a room full of books rather than the center of learning at our school. I am fortunate also to be part of a community of educators who share ideas and support each other as generously as do the school librarians in Guilford County.” |
