RE:Renewal of Contract for Retread Tires for 2010-11 School Year
On December 17, 2009, the Board of Education awarded a contract to Bestreads Inc., Winston Salem, NC for retread tire services for the 2009-10 school year. The contract was for one year with the option to renew for up to two additional years.
Total expenditures for retread tires during the 2009-10 school year amounted to $151,651.52. These expenditures included purchases in the amounts of $76,751.53 from White’s Tire Services (July to November) and $74,899.99 from Bestreads Inc. (December to June).
The estimated cost of the contract for the 2010-11 school year is $162,000.00 (estimate is based on prior year’s number of retread tires). During the 2009-10 school year, Bestreads Inc. has complied with all contract terms and specifications. The contracted price for retread tires is currently $91.00 per tire for size 11R22.5 and $89.00 for tire size 265/75R22.5.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends renewing the contract with Bestreads Inc. to provide retread tire services for the 2010-11 school year. |
