RE:First Reading – Policy JCDAF, Character Development

Character development is a major initiative of Guilford County Schools’ Strategic Plan 2012, Achieving Educational Excellence. The attached policy, JCDAF, Character Development, supports the district’s focus on character development as a key component of educational excellence, as well as the Board’s mission of graduating “responsible citizens prepared to succeed in higher education, or in the career of their choice.”

The policy is brought to the board for a first reading.

RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends that the Board accept Policy JCDAF, Character Development, for a first reading, and direct staff to post the proposed policy and procedure for a 21-day public comment period, beginning June 11.
