RE:Magnet Revisioning – Bluford, Hampton, Montlieu, and Parkview
On December 17, 2009, staff shared initial proposals for revisioning the magnet themes at Bluford Elementary, Montlieu Elementary, Parkview Elementary and Hampton Academy with the Board of Education. After an initial review, the board directed staff to further develop the proposed themes and to include input from school-based staff members.
As a result, a process was utilized whereby site-based teams reviewed school exemplars, related curricula, research, and student achievement data of each of the proposed themes. School-based teams included the principals, faculty members, parents, and in some cases community members, i.e., university representatives. The teams developed the attached proposals specific to the school’s proposed magnet themes.
School-based staff will share their plans with the Board of Education during the work session. At the regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting on March 25, 2010, the administration will seek approval of the revisioned themes in order to proceed with writing for the Magnet Schools Assistance Program (MSAP) federal grant.
