RE:Submission of Teaching American History (TAH) Grant
Guilford County Schools has the opportunity to apply for a Teaching American History Grant through the United States Department of Public Instruction. The executive summary attached outlines the grant proposal plans and has been reviewed by all cabinet members and the grant director as required by district procedure Grants Funding DD-P.
This grant program provides funding for professional development activities for teachers in American History. GCS would partner with local universities and museums to provide sustained, high-quality professional development activities that improve instructional practices and student academic achievement. GCS will request a total of $989,760 over the three-year grant.
RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends that the board approve submission of this grant.
