RE:2009 National Board Certified Teachers
Sixty-nine Guilford County Schools (GCS) educators earned National Board Certification, the teaching profession’s highest recognition. With 592 teachers total, GCS ranks third among all school districts in the state for its number of National Board Certified educators. Nationwide, 8,900 teachers achieved the certification in 2009, which brings the total number of top teachers to more than 82,000.
A symbol of professional teaching excellence, certification by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards acknowledges that a teacher was judged by his or her peers as one who is accomplished, makes sound professional judgments about students’ best interests and acts effectively on those judgments.
