RE:
Board of Education Member Dr. Nancy Routh Named to All-State School Board
Guilford County Board of Education member Dr. Nancy Routh was named to the honorary All-State School Board by the North Carolina School Boards Association (NCSBA) for the second consecutive year.
Routh, who has served on the Board of Education since 2002, was recognized during an awards ceremony at the association’s annual conference in November. Routh has been involved in public education for nearly 50 years, serving as a teacher, principal and school board member.
After she retired from teaching in 1993, her drive and enthusiasm for public education led her to work with Head Start programs and take an active role on the state level in the fight for student rights. She even became a licensed playground safety inspector. Active in the local board’s governance committee, Routh is knowledgeable in curriculum and instruction, facilities and finance and often visits schools and observes classes.
The All-State School Board is comprised of members representing each of the eight educational districts in the state. These individuals have made significant contributions to boardsmanship during their tenure on local boards of education. The members of the All-State School Board were peer-nominated for NCSBA’s Raleigh Dingman Award. |
