RE:
Approval to Submit Application for National Science Foundation Graduate Stem Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) Grant
Guilford County Schools has the opportunity to partner with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro to apply for a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Stem Fellows in K-12 Education (GK-12) Grant. The executive summary attached outlines the grant and has been reviewed by all cabinet members and the district grants coordinator as required by district procedure Grants Funding DD-P.
The grant would provide funding for graduate students in NSF-supported science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines to bring their leading research practice and findings into K-12 learning settings. The total grant funding is $600,000 per year for five years with no financial cost to the district.
RECOMMENDATION: The administration recommends that the board approve submission of this grant.
