It’s the eternal question for middle- and high-school students: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Those who don’t yet know the answer can find help at the annual Guilford County Schools (GCS) Career Exploration Fair, happening Tuesday, Nov. 15, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Greensboro Coliseum Special Events Center.

The fair, coordinated by the counseling and Career and Technical Education (CTE) departments, allows students to get a glimpse into the business world and sample an array of career options. It’s just one of the ways GCS helps students find the career path that’s right for them.

“The Career Exploration Fair makes it easy and convenient for students and parents to talk directly with employers and colleges and to find out what matters most to them,” says Dr. Karen Meadows, supervisor of K-8 Counseling. “Our goal is to expand students’ knowledge base by exposing them to and allowing them to interact with career opportunities that they never knew existed. It’s an opportunity for them to invest in their future.”

At the fair, students can take advantage of interest inventories such as the Holland Code Assessment and Futures 4 Kids. Growing fields such as engineering, automotive, medicine and law will be represented. The Grimsley High orchestra will also be performing during the event.

Admission and parking at the fair are free. For more information, call the GCS counseling office at 370-2332.
