Be a GCS Volunteer |
In 2011-12, GCS volunteers recorded 410,292 volunteer hours. At the national average of $21.79 per hour, this represents a donation of $8.9 million; however, the real value of a volunteer is priceless. If you are interested in volunteering at a particular school, please contact the school office and ask to speak to the volunteer coordinator. If you’d like to volunteer, but don’t know where to start or which schools could use more assistance or your expertise, please contact GCS Community Relations at 336-370-8355 or email feedback@gcsnc.com. Some volunteer duties, particularly those that allow volunteers unsupervised interaction with GCS students, require a criminal background check in keeping with school board policy. To register for both supervised and unsupervised volunteer opportunities, or to start the volunteer background check process, please click here. What kinds of things can volunteers do? Here are some examples. There’s no better way to support school communities than by sharing your special talents and knowledge with students, teachers and staff. The need for volunteers is unique to each school, but the need for volunteers and community partners is shared. Click here to view a GCSTV Newsbreak regarding volunteering.
